May 6, 2008 The Larchwood City Council met in regular session May 5, 2008 with Mayor Vanden Bosch calling the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. Council Members present were: Mike Metzger, Sharon Meffert, Josh Feucht, Dean Snyders, and Ted Underberg. Also present were Carla Manning and Verdona Kelly. A thank you was received from Jesse & Katie Blauwet and family for the $50 baby credit. Connie Douglass submitted her resignation as janitor for the Recreation and Community Centers. Building Permits were approved for Aaron Harmon-addition and Mike Cordingley-fence. Tony DeSmet gave the maintenance report which included tree removal, baseball and softball diamond repairs and lawnmower preparation. He also reported on street repairs and bids being placed. Financial reports and minutes from the April 7, 2008 meeting were approved and signed on motions from Snyders and Metzger. The Council introduced this Resolution to set a date for a Public Hearing to propose to sell City property located on Lot 3 of Sykes 2nd Addition to the City of Larchwood. The City proposes to sell the west 60’ of this property for $31,860.00. Roll call vote was as follows: Ayes: 5 Nays: 0. The Public Hearing is set for May 20 at 6 pm at City Hall. The Clerk will send letters to adjoining property owners. Stephanie Schreurs has replaced Connie Douglass as janitor for the Rec and Community Centers and she will also be part-time summer maintenance help. May 20 will be the rescheduled date for the Budget Amendment Public Hearing also. The Mayor Proclaimed that May 24, 2008 shall be "Poppy Day" in Larchwood. Donation containers will be placed in businesses in town May 19-24. Regular summer council meetings will be changed to the first Tuesday of the month, next meeting is scheduled for June 3, 2008 at 6:30 pm.
